Megagoods.com is a refreshing drop ship website in that it takes a plain and simple approach in a world where drop shipping sites have sometimes become quite complex and packed with features. Their no frills business strategy has paid dividends. It's simple to navigate, easy to use and ideal for those who perhaps aren't as serious about developing their online sales business, but are looking for a way to generate some extra cash. However, more invested sellers will also find plenty to tempt them too.

The first thing to mention is that the site is very nicely organized, uncluttered and easy to navigate. At the time of this review there were 48 product categories to browse, covering a diverse range of goods, but mainly oriented towards electrical items and accessories. Annoyingly, you have to sign up before getting access to the whole product catalog (which is why we have scored registration so low). You'll find 'car products', 'cell phones', 'digital cameras', 'DVDs', 'consoles/video games', watches and much more besides. Given the generally rather modest nature of the website, there isn't a huge product range, although it does run into the thousands. For example, when we checked there were 184 products in 'electrical accessories', 38 in 'digital cameras' and just 22 in 'watches'. Nonetheless, the quality of goods to be found here is superior to many sites and well worth a browse, including Apple, Sony and Toshiba, to name a few. It's therefore a classic case of quality over quantity here, which can only be good for your business. 

There's a quick keyword search to help locate specific products. There's also a 'new arrivals' 'top 25 sold items' and 'specials/closeouts' section to find bargains. Clicking on a thumbnail image brings up a range of information; condition, retail price, member price, weight and very detailed product description. There's certainly enough to satisfy your customers' needs when trying to find out about a product. One thing to mention is that some products may be factory reconditioned, in which case you'll see an (R) nest to the product model number. Some reconditioned products are covered by a 90 day warranty.

Whilst it's great to see a more simple approach to membership, some may see this approach as falling somewhat short. For example, there aren't any features to link your Megagoods.com membership to your eBay auction page, so it's a little long-winded transferring items to auction sites when other sites make this a little easier (e.g. Dropship-business.com). Neither is there the option to get your own ecommerce website, which can be a reasonably priced and convenient way of setting up your own website and avoiding auction site fees. Plus, your customers get to see all of your products in the one place.

That said, it's very simple to use and the basic membership fee of $14.99 per month cuts the confusion of comparing and contrasting membership packages. There's also currently a 30 day free trial, so there's never been a better time to give it a try. With reference to fees, there's a $1.50 handling fee applied to each order as well as shipping. The shipping fee is calculated automatically after you've bought an item and given the address, but you can get a good idea of shipping fees from the product detail page. Whilst the low product prices are attractive, remember to take the handling and shipping fee into account when determining your retail price. There's plenty of help on the site, as well as a good FAQs section with plenty of detail on their returns policy. In summary, Megagoods.com is a back-to-basics drop ship site with some great quality branded items for a very reasonable monthly membership fee. However, this simple approach won't suit everyone and it might seem like a bit of a dinosaur to some sellers.
